In 1969, John graduated from the Georgia Institute of
Technology with a BS in Electrical Engineering. For 10 years, he worked in the Computer, Aerospace, and
Electronics industry. In the meantime,
he earned his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Chicago
and began his accounting career in 1974 and became a Certified Public
Accountant. He then earned his Juris
Doctor degree from Woodrow Wilson College of Law and became a member of the
Georgia Bar in 1979.
John has held adjunct positions at Oglethorpe University,
Clayton College and the Becker CPA Review Course. He has been an active member of civic organizations: Northside Atlanta Jaycees, Decatur DeKalb
Kiwanis Club; and he has been a Future Business Leaders of America sponsor and
has taught in the Junior Achievement program.
He is an active pilot and is a Major in the Peachtree Dekalb Squadron of
the Civil Air Patrol. He has been
Director of the National Association of Enrolled Agents and the President of
the Atlanta Chapter NAEA as well as a member of the ABA, AICPA, Georgia Bar
Association, and the National Society of Public Accountants. He has been a member of, and served on
various committees of, the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants
(GSCPA) including the Tax Committee (now the Tax Section). He has served as Chairman of the Tax Section
since June 2008.
John has been a SBA Volunteer Consultant and has acted as
Tax Series Guest/Host on WGST radio station.
For many years, John administered the “Call the Expert” on taxation
call-in program at WGST radio.
